OCD

Obsessive Compulsive DisorderOCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is when a person has obsessive thoughts and/or compulsive behaviours. According to the NHS, “an obsession is an unwanted and unpleasant thought, image or urge that repeatedly enters your mind, causing feelings of anxiety, disgust or unease. A compulsion is a repetitive behaviour or mental act that you feel you need to do to temporarily relieve the unpleasant feelings brought on by the obsessive thought.”

OCD can present itself in a variety of different ways from constantly checking doors, locks, windows before you leave home, or need items to be in exact places. Some women during pregnancy find that they obsess about harming the baby. Others find that they are constantly having to clean surfaces.

OCD can take over your life, sometimes stopping you from doing things that you want to do. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is known to help OCD sufferers by breaking the pattern of negative and repetitive thinking.
