Anxiety and Stress

Anxiety at work and homeAccording to the NHS “Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe.”

At some stage in our life, we all will have suffered from some symptoms of anxiety for instance, before sitting an exam, a job interview or a medical test. This can be perfectly normal, but some people find it hard to control their anxiety and it can be debilitating. Our levels of anxiety and stress can build up slowly over a period of time, and if the anxiety becomes constant, it can affect your daily life.

There is a specific condition called Generalised Anxiety Disorder (GAD). GAD is a long-term condition that makes you feel anxious about a wide range of issues and situations, rather than one specific event. Those suffering from GAD feel anxious every day and often struggle to remember when they last felt relaxed.

People can find that normal daily tasks which they used to find easy become harder.  They struggle to concentrate, perhaps lose motivation, find thought processes challenging. Some of the symptoms of anxiety and GAD are being easily distracted, becoming irritable, feeling on edge constantly, a sense of foreboding. It can also lead to physical symptoms such as headaches, sleeping issues, nausea, excessive sweating, tiredness to name a few.

If you find this applies to you, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can help. By understanding how our brain and thought processes can create anxiety, in combination with hypnosis this allows us to change the behavioural responses to everyday life. We can retrain the brain to look at situations in a different way, and can create a meaningful, positive change in your life.
